April 16
The weather has been really windy but finally we had a nice day for us to camp! We went to Sobaek Mountain National Park/Saebat VAlley, and found this nice camp site for ourselves. We were the only campers there!
Sobaek mountain is famous for the nationwide Sobaek Royal Azalea Festival but we didn't get to see any of them because the it was still cold.
Sobaeksan Mountain (소백산) is renowned for its natural splendor and mystery, standing tall in the middle of the Korean peninsula, and offering several magnificent peaks such as Hyeongjebong, Sinseonbong, Gukmangbong, Birobong and Yeonhwabong. Its captivating seasonal beauty (royal azalea in spring, wildflowers in summer, autumn foliage in fall, snowscape in winter) attracts visitors year-round. The open grass field on Birobong Peak (비로봉, 1,439m in elevation) is reminiscent of a scene from the Swiss Alps.

We are ready for the cold night.....

James took the boys for a walk along the valley and then there comes Ben after falling in the water:) lol

Beautiful sunset.... and setting the fire....

It was a windy and chilly night.....
Next morning......eating breakfast and packing things up...

The boys are learning wilderness surviving skills...lol
Hiking up Sobaek Mountain... 1439m elevation and 5.2km long trail...5 hour course.

Birobong Peak 1,439m

It was a hard hiking course with the boys because of rocky trail, it was very rocky pretty much all the way up and we had to climb up lots of wooden steps probably about 1km long. We stopped and rested for the boys as often as we can and they had lots of motivational snacks:) -they did a great job!
The boys and I hiked to 3.1km point(about 900m elevation)and James hiked up (ran up) to the top Birobong peak of 1,439m. Good job James! Mission accomplished:)
It was a fun spring break camping trip overall!
