It feels more like home

Finally! after over 2 weeks...

How in the world we have collected so much stuff! I thought that packing was crazy but unpacking was crazier! I have been unpacking couple of boxes almost everyday and there are still things laying around the house..it is always a challenge to re-arrange and re-organize things in a new place..I guess I am not motivated as much as I should be! at least kitchen and living room are done and it does feels more like home now even though we had to endure the loudness of the mosque....strangely, during the day, it doesn't really bother me much...only the first call around 5:00 (now sunrise time is different) is the most annoying one...I do feel like sleep walking some days...lol.

we decided to put the curtain all the way up to the ceiling and our old curtains fitted perfectly, saved us money.  It is a old villa but has some neat features such as mounted high ceilings, nice light fixtures, nice marble floors..I do like our villa, but still I find myself -I wish that there weren't mosques around..

What a move!

We have our internet connected FINALLY after so many issues with cable company..overall, it just takes so long to get things done in this country! We were really tested with our patience!

I don't even know where to begin..we moved in to our new villa almost 2 weeks ago.  Most of the boxes are emptied and put away, but still have many unpacked boxes and things are sting around all over the house.  I hope to get it all done by this weekend.  I don't have all the pictures ready but it was a quite a move! I will write another post about our moving day.

We like our villa and we are thankful for the place we call home but we overlooked one thing and it has been really I don't know what exact word to describe...but it was just not what we expected and not very peaceful:( inside and out.

When we looked at this villa, we knew there is a Mosque not too far from our place, but it was not that loud during the day with air-conditioner running so we thought that we can handle it since we liked the villa...but we underestimated the loudness of the Mosque and there are not only one, also another one within 100 meters which we weren't  aware of.   Where we used to live, there was only one mosque and it was far away from our villa so we actually never heard the call of prayers.  It was just a dramatic change for our family.

Mosque calls for prayers 5 times a day from sunrise to sunset.  The very day we moved in, we were all very tired and sitting in our couch, there was a call of prayer around 7:45pm..it was so loud, it sounded like the speaker was inside of our house..on top of that, the second mosque started calling of prayer about 2 minutes after the first one as loud as the first one, this one was really annoying high pitched voice with lots of whiny singing..at least first one calls with lower voice.  We were literally shocked! God what have we done? we just couldn't believe we actually decided to move here.

Next morning at 4:45am, we were woken up by the loud call of prayer simulaneously from the two mosques.  Thankfully, boys's room is on the back and their air-conditioner is running really loud, so they don't hear as loud actually it is.   After waking up by the call of prayer early in the morning for several days, I was in a bad shape emotionally and physically!..our friends who live near mosques told us that we would get used to it (like 6-8 months)but nothing can be more annoying than waking up every morning @4:45 by a loud high pitched singing and reading from the mosque.  We tried white noise and ear plugs but they were no helpful. I was upset and mad and just couldn't believe what a mistake we made to move here...

First week was really rough, then second week, only by God's grace, we were slowly accepting the the fact that we decided to move here knowing there was a mosque near and trying to be content whatever the circumstances (Philippians 4:11).  We trust God for his plans for us and whatever reasons, we moved to a local neighborhood where there are mosques in every 100-200m distance..it was also a true spiritual wake up call for us.  Looking at the bright side, we have 5 times of reminder to pray to our awesome GOD and getting up early gave me more time with HIM. During the day noise isn't much of problem but first call in the morning...I am just not used to it... Although, we will have to come up with some noise canceling for the windows regardless.

Slowly we are feeling more like home at this villa and hope we can get into a normal life as quickly as possible...and two things I mentioned in the previous post are....

We have a huge yard (wall all around) and tennis court inside of the yard..Landlord must love tennis:) Boys have been riding their roller blades and scooter in there:) Perhaps, learn to play tennis!

:: our own gym in a separate building with air conditioning next to the pool.

Even though our neighborhood is not not as quiet as we want, the majority of people in this country live near the mosques and it is part of their lives.  We have been blessed for the last two years living in the expat populated area..but after all, we are blessed regardless where we live or what we have..
it is a good reminder for us to think about God's grace..

I hear kids playing (not sure the nationality), laughing outside on the street, and a rooster in the morning (someone has chicken coop somewhere), it is closer to boys's school, easy access for James to go to work, we are thankful..I just needed to wrestle through and deal with my own discontentment and disappointment and I think I am ok with it.

Also it was a big change for an night owl like me to become an early birds! LOL.

more pictures later!

Peace be with you:)
