Day 1 -Dubai to Seychelles.........Mahe Isalnd Part One

April 8th, 2011

We got up around 4:30 in the morning for our 8:50a.m. flight to Seychelle... The boys had no problem getting up early... they were just so excited! lol... We flew Emirates Airlines, the flight was about 5 hours non stop to Seychelles.

:: Dubai looked all dusty and brown from the sky.......basically looks so....ummm DESERT~

:: Almost there....

:: Arriving at Seychelles International Airport, Mahe....one of the smallest international airport..

Seychelles's capital is Victoria, which is one of the smallest capital in the world as well.

:: Sky was so blue and it was just so beautiful...Airport is located right next to the ocean...

:: Arrivals area was basically open space to outside street....

tiny duty free shop (they said it is mainly for the local travelers)

:: waiting for our rental car...we decided to rent a car so we can drive around the island on our own pace...

::I n Seychelles cars drive on left side of the road and of course, drivers sit on the right side of the car:)

James had to get used to drive on the left side....Stopped to get some gas and to exchange

money to Seychelles Rupees.....gas station looked really old and pretty much everything

(streets, houses, stores...)was the same way.

1$ =12.02 Rupees...

:: We stayed at self catering chalet in Anse(beach) Forbans.

We stayed there for five nights and it was just perfect for us!!!

We ate our breakfast at the chalet including fresh coconut, and enjoyed our mornings near the beach swimming/snorkeling. After that we drove around Mahe...

:: Giant Tortoise in the garden area.....they were so friendly! We have learned that they actually can feel if we scratch their shells..and they like that!

:: Coconut trees were everywhere and the chalet manager told us to be aware of falling coconuts!

imagine that!!!!...we ate coconut almost everyday especially Caleb loved it!

:: The beach...'Anse Forbans'(South East coast of Mehe)...was right in front of our chalet..

it was like a private beach......water was so clear and it was so beautiful!

After we checked in, James and the boys went to the beach and snorkeled some more....

:: Throwing coconuts in the water...lol..they were great toy! haha...

And then we went to the grocery store (near Takamaka-Indian owned)to buy some for breakfast.:: Stores in Seychelles are pretty much the same...small, out dated, and don't have much western stuff..there is no real big grocery store around...we had to go to Victoria, the Capital of Seychelles to go to a bigger market, yet it was still very small.

:: Store at Takamaka..this one was actually very nice one. We bought bread, juice, and some fruits.

:: Ate dinner at theAnchor Cafe (the restaurant was owned by Americans who moved to Seychelles 25 years ago)....James had Red Snapper, I had Octopus creole salad,

the boys ate fish and chips

dinner was all so good! and of course, we were all hungry after snorkeling for whole afternoon.
